I understand the urge of wanting to take one’s phone and feel the dopamine as you browse through the new notifications, feeds and messages.
The urge is there but oftentimes lead to frustration and it ends up draining your precious energy.
Plenty of studies have shown that social media, emails, back and forth messaging are “damaging” to our psyches.
I am not saying that you should eliminate everything altogether (although it’s not such a bad idea) but stay away from your phone for the first hour after you wake up.
This is the best time of your day. Your energy levels (joy and happiness) are at their highest.
Take full advantage of this beautiful, amazing time. Have sex, exercise, read some positive words, meditate, anything except checking your phone.
You know me to be an advocate of meditation so I would strongly recommend you, to sit still and observe/cultivate your mind for a bit.
15-20 minutes. That’s all you need. This tiny, tiny segment of your day is a huge difference-maker.
Those few minutes a day can make your day go from shitty to the most beautiful experience ever.
So please, please, please take some time away from your phone. Enjoy this moment. This time of the day is just for you. It’s a gift for you. It’s the present of the present moment. Do enjoy it.
