Find the music in you
Find the music in you
- Sebastien Grynko
Wayne Dyer used to say : “Don’t die with your music still in you. And
Ralph Waldo Emerson used to say :
“Most men live lives of quiet desperation”
Are you ? Are you living a life which seem meaningless ? This is not a call to action. This is not message to get you hot and pumping.
This is a reminder that life is not supposed to be dry and dull. Contrary to popular belief, having a life worth living does not necessarily mean to take actions, so bold and grandiose that it break the news.
No. It’s about a rhythm you have in your life and the colours and flavours you had to it.
In his song "still Dre" Dr dre sings :
“My life is like a soundtrack I wrote to the beat”
Was is your soundtrack ? In the movie of your life what kind of main character are you ? Who is part of your supporting cast ?
Everything starts from the inside. The meaning of life seems to be a mystery for most us, but a lot of the meaning of life is actually the meaning you put into your life.
It often starts with the understanding of the nature of life. Life is transient and ephemeral. We are born alone, we live and die alone. We could say that life is a tragedy.
The first noble truth of Buddhism is that life is suffering. The original term used from the Pali, is Dukkha, which has been translated and/or interpreted wrongly.
Life is suffering actually means that life is inconvenient. Life is a challenge and life will not always go the way you want it to be and ultimately we all get old and die.
This is the nature of things and the nature of life. Knowing that, you can choose to say that life has no meaning but I beg to differ, it is because life is so fleeting, ephemeral and transient, that we need to be more caring.
Because life is so fragile it automatically gives it more meaning. It is not meaningless it is meaningFULL. Full of wisdom to impart and love, that is born of it.
Because life is so short and unexpected, we have to live a life where we seek our truth and that my friends, is the meaning of life.
We all have aspirations and dreams, things that are beyond the will to power, beyond the desire to achieve fame and accrue material goods.
We all have something we want to put into the world that will make it a more beautiful place to live in.
Im not saying that we should all be Elon Musk or Richard Branson, or the Dalai Lama but are you denying yourself something ?
Do you shut down the whispers of your heart ? Are you not hearing the melodies of your own soul ?
I had a friend who told me once that He loves music so much and that he wish he could do something that has do with creating music.
He was very young and studying something that had nothing to do with music.
I asked him why he did not try and he told me that it was not realistic and perhaps, it is something he did not want as much as he had claimed, to be fair.
I was not saying that he should be Quincy Jones or Jimmy Iovine but how much are we denying ourselves because we think we are being “realistic”
Jim Carrey said that being realistic is often fear disguised as practicality.
We often deny ourselves, we often reject ourselves. We live a life vicariously through movies and social media. We might be bitter and sad. We live lives of quiet desperation.
We fail to put meaning into our lives. We fail to have gratitude as an attitude and therefore fail to truly understand our own hearts.
This is not invitation to conquer the world, to have more motivation or anything or that sort.
This is an invitation to truly listen to your heart. We all need quiet moments when we relieve ourselves of the clutter and the burdens of everyday life.
When we are light in our mind and our heart. In those moments of quietness, in those moments of gratitude, you might hear a sound, a lyric, a humming... Can you hear it ?
Keep your ears open ? Is this sound getting louder ? Go towards it. Just listen and enjoy it.
This music is yours. Whether it is a tango, a valse, zumba, salsa or rock and roll, dance to it and maybe one day you can share it with the world, but whatever this music is for you, don’t let it die inside of you.
