I have to give credit to Nike because in my opinion, they probably have chosen the best slogan in the world.
Tony Robbins said that one of the aspects of succeeding and reaching one’s goal is to take massive actions.
Obviously, we do not take strategies and mindsets for granted. We do however, need to start at some point.
The problem I see in people and myself is the overthinking part. The paralysis by analysis, stops so many of us in our tracks.
A few years ago, I spent time with a friend whom I have not seen for a long time. We were together in Shanghai and Hong Kong and I was kind of surprised at his behaviour (in a good way). When he saw a pretty girl or a girl he liked, without thinking twice, he would launch like a rocket ship.
I asked him why was he so eager to talk to them. He told me that he just could not help himself.
My friend is shy by nature but still he would just do it and not only once or twice!
He was just doing it and being proactive. No particular mindset. No particular strategy. He just did and see how it would go. And you know what? It worked pretty well for him and got a lot of dates!
When I started working out. I barely knew what I was doing. It was embarrassing. I made all the mistakes a rookie could make.
I paid trainers who did not really care. I bought programs that promised me I could look like a Spartan in 3 weeks. I ate all the junk food I could stuffed up to get bigger but only to become fat but I kept going at it!
Years later, I got the right knowledge, the right diet and I work religiously. Now I am doing pretty well and I have attained most of my physical goals.
I think, too often we get caught into the “how to do things right” instead of the “just doing it” part.
We all start with a white belt and we are going to fuck up regardless of how much knowledge we might think we have.
Knowledge is great but we need the experience for it to sink in and confirm what works and what does not work.
We need to be doing to get this experience. For all of you who want to start something new and are just stuck.
I feel you for you guys. I have been there and it is not a comfortable place. I invite you to just start and just do it. Do as much as you can.
Do and do again. Learn along the way. Tweak what needs to be tweaked and never give up.
